As the Associated Students General Election is coming up this week, one of the representatives that students will be able to vote for is Peyton Webb.
Connor McGinness, who will be running for Senator for the College of Engineering, Computer Science and Construction Management.
Peyton Webb is a senior computer science major student. Connor McGiness is a civil engineering student.
Webb has been working in the college of ECC for two years.
Webb feels there should be an easier way to “bridge the communication,” amongst staff and faculty.
Webb plans to bridge this gap among students by hosting officer hours where students will be able to take time and communicate any issues directly to her. She also plans to create a newsletter that she will send out monthly to students within ECC.
Webb will host five office hours a week during which students can meet with her.
She is considering creating a “master table” of students schedules in order to arrange resume workshops and for these workshops to fit with students schedules.
Webb hopes to be able to give back to her college and she believes becoming a Senator for ECC is a way to showcase that to her peers and fellow students.
“I’m just interested in serving the college as a whole. I’ve really loved it here and I’ve met some incredible people and I’d love to be able to give back to that,” Webb said.
Being a senator for the College of ECC means advocating for the students within their college alongside other duties. They serve as a voting member for the Student Academic Senate.
Connor McGinness was unavailable for an interview before the deadline. His biography can be found here.
A senator for ECC is one of the 17 positions students will be able to vote for in this election.
On Wednesday, every Chico State student will receive an email with a link to the ballot. The link will also be available here on its website. You will need to sign in with your Chico State login to access the ballot.
Correction: Webb was part of the Student Academic Senate (Associated Students), not on the Academic Senate as previously reported.
