This story reviews the University Police Department’s daily crime logs. An Orion reporter spoke with Lt. Bryce Davison for more information regarding certain logged events from last week, April 9 to April 15.
Thursday, April 9:
Call Type: Animal Call
Someone was concerned that a duck with babies crossing Normal Avenue would be hit by traffic. The ducks were ushered and released into a creek.
Call Type: Suspicious Person/Vehicle/Circumstance
Two people were climbing on stop signs and running into the street in front of Esken Hall. A UPD officer came into contact with them and counseled them about safety. The officer then let them go.
Friday, April 10:
Call Type: Property-Lost/Found/Recovered
Somebody dropped a bag with white residue in Shasta Hall. The residue inside was not usable or a testable amount, Davison said.
“You could just tell that there was, at some point, something white inside,” Davison said. “But it was gone at that point, so they just threw it away.”
Sunday, April 12:
Call Type: Suspicious Person/Vehicle/Circumstance
Three people climbed onto the roof of Konkow Hall from the bike racks near house six. A resident adviser reported them to UPD. When UPD officers arrived, they conducted an area check, inspecting the rooftops.
They didn’t find anyone at that time. Everything appeared fine with no damage to the area, Davison said.
Monday, April 13:
Call Type: Suspicious Person/Vehicle/Circumstance
A male with gray underwear and duct tape on his hands and mouth was running near the right corner of the Chestnut Arms Apartments.
“I was walking past the two frat houses to the right of the chestnut arms when a man in a car approached me in front of the Lambda house about recording something about his car and when I walked past, the man in the underwear came running from behind me into the apartments,” stated a reporting person from an anonymous tip.
UPD officers conducted an area check and gave the information to Chico PD, but they were unable to locate anybody.
“There was limited information, posted as far as specific location,” Davison said. “There’s a general apartment complex, but they checked the area, but nobody was in distress.”
The information came from the daily crime logs in UPD’s media bulletin. Not all logs from April 9 to April 15 were featured in this story.
