As of 1:30 p.m. Canvas has displayed an error message, leaving students unable to access their class materials. 

According to Chico State’s status dashboard, “Canvas is currently down for emergency maintenance. Vendor status page will show information as it comes in.” 

Chico State Public Relations Director, Andrew Staples said there isn’t any confirmed information on why canvas is down. The university has no information if this is related to the Canvas infrastructure breach that occurred on Monday.   

Chico State’s Division of IT sent an email to all students informing that they are aware Canvas is down across many California State University campuses including Chico State. 

“This situation is fluid, and we are working with Instructure to determine the full scope of impact and will provide updates as soon as they are available,” DoIT said. 

Still as of 3 p.m. the issue has not been resolved. We will update as more information is available.
