Chico Performances presents a rare acoustic evening with Jason Mraz and special guest Raining Jane at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Laxson Auditorium.

Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Jason Mraz is touring for a limited time with indie-folk-rock group Raining Jane.

Mraz got his start playing in coffee houses before the release of his first album, “Waiting for my Rocket to Come,” launched his career. His second album, “Mr. A-Z,” hit No. 5 on the Billboard’s Top 200 album charts. Mraz’s found major commercial success with the “We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things.” album in 2008, debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard’s Top 200 album charts and topping many international charts.

Mraz has released several platinum singles and is one of the most popular modern pop artists today. His song “I’m Yours” appeared on the Hot 100 list for 76 weeks and sold over 5 million copies.

Raining Jane played their first show at UCLA in 1999 have been active since then. They first met Mraz in 2007. They have collaborated many times, including work on Mraz’s “A Beautiful Mess.”

Mraz and Raining Jane began touring in 2014 and their collaboration contributes to a performance that certainly shouldn’t be missed.
