Transitional fashion from the gym to campus

Workout clothing can be expensive. Going to stores that sell items specifically for the gym are way out of most students’ price range. It is challenging to find an outfit that is casual for the gym, but also fashionable for an on campus look, all while trying not to break the bank.

Taylor Mercurio, a third-year communications major, regularly attends the Wildcat Recreation Center.

Mercurio knows what she needs to wear and have to be prepared for the gym while still looking trendy, she said. Not only does she wear workout clothes to the gym, but she creates an outfit that will work for the rest of her day.

“I wear gym clothes to campus every day because I go between my hour breaks,” Mercurio said. “I’m presenting myself for the entire day.”

Not only does she have the latest attire trends for the gym and on campus, but she’s doing it at an affordable price.

“I’m a bargain shopper,” she said. “I only buy my workout clothes online for discounted prices, Marshalls or Forever 21.”

Forget spending hundreds of dollars at Lululemon when her tie-dye three-quarter length workout leggings can come from Marshalls. The essential sports bra she is wearing is from Forever 21, also for a great price.

Mercurio’s shoes are an important part of her everyday look. She’s wearing gray and mint green Nike running shoes that she’d purchased from the online Nike store.

Her shirt is a razorback tank by American Apparel with her sorority’s name on it, which is a popular look for Greek students.

She wears tank tops because it is easier to move around and be comfortable in during her day’s activities, Mercurio said.

Mercurio is an example of how to transition from being comfortable at the gym to being stylish on campus.
