Cross-country opens season at Stanford Invitational

The Chico State men and women’s cross-country teams began the season Saturday at the Stanford XC Invitational at Stanford Golf Course. Overall, the men’s and women’s teams did well by placing in the top two for their category. Other teams that competed included UC San Diego, University of Victoria and Simon Fraser.

The men’s team finished with the most points in the 8k non-Division 1 category. Brandon Taylor, a junior, was the first to finish on the Chico state team and 14th overall with a time of 24 minutes, six seconds . Sophomore Aaron Mora, senior Alan Cueva and Kyle Medina finished as a pack and got 28th, 29th and 30th place overall .

The women’s cross-country team competed in the 6k and placed second overall point-wise, only behind University of Victoria. Quetta Peinado, a junior, was the first Wildcat to finish and got 31st place overall with a time of 21:56. The next Wildcat to finish was sophomore Sadie Gastelum with a time of 22:27.
