It didn’t take long for the Chico State women’s soccer team to score on Friday night in its affair vs. San Francisco State.

Pooja Patel hit the far post from 20 yards out in just the third minute into play to give the Wildcats an early 1-0 lead.

Chico took the lead into half time. However, San Francisco Sate lead the half in shots, 7-6, and in corner kicks, 3-2.

The Wildcats stayed the course and in the 76th minute of play Lindsey Dias put the ball over the goal keeper and iced the game, making the score 2-0.

Chico State’s goal keeper Brianna Furner kept San Francisco State off the board with seven saves for the game.

The Wildcats are now 9-4-2 and 6-2-1 California Collegiate Athletic Association. That puts them in second place in its division as they ride a three-game winning streak to Sunday’s game against Cal State Monterey Bay.
