The California State University system’s amount of gift donations increased 36 percent this year, according to the chancellor’s office.

The amount of donations for all 23 CSU campuses totaled at $459.9 million by the end of the 2013-14 fiscal year. The CSU system’s current endowment pool is worth $1 billion.

“The increase shows the commitment that alumni parent and individuals have to give back to the CSU,” said Elizabeth Chapin, spokesperson for the chancellor’s office. “The increase reflects an ongoing renewed confidence in the economy.”

Chico State’s University Foundation received $9,548,488 in donations for the 2013-14 fiscal year, an increase of more than $670,000 from the previous year.

The donations rose 7.6 percent in 2013-14, said Sarah Langford, Chico State public affairs coordinator.

As of June 2014, the University Foundation’s endowment pool was worth more than $52,000,000.
