From Thursday to Friday, Chico State men’s and women’s track and field teams took part in the 30th annual Chico Multi Classic meet.

Heptathletes and decathletes from the team started the season with great performances in multiple events in the two day event.

Thursday kicked off the beginning of the Chico Multi Classic meet.

Surprise performances on the women’s side were made from the younger athletes on the team.

Sophomore Brooke Whitburn finished fifth out of the 12 heptathletes that competed. Following right behind was her teammate, sophomore Kylie Herman finishing in sixth.

The men competed in the decathlon completely dominating the track.

Junior Philip Bailey competed in his first meet in a Chico State uniform took home first.

Not too far behind Bailey was sophomore Lane Andrews, who finished fourth and trailing right behind them was sophomore Scott Peter.

All three men scored for the team.

Both men and women did fairly well setting the bar high for what else is expected in the 2015 season.
