Chico State took on Cal State San Bernadino on Sunday March 15th.

After four scoreless innings the scoring was opened up in the fifth.

Chico State drew first blood. Junior infielder James Hatano capitalized off a San Bernadino throwing error putting the ‘Cats on the board.

Shortly after Hatano scored, junior infielder Andrew Carrillo singled to left. Junior catcher Cody Bistline ran in doubling the ‘Cats lead.

The lead was short lived after the Coyotes rallied in the top of the sixth with a two run homer.

Chico State quickly responded. In the bottom half of the sixth, senior outfielder Connor Huessers hit a line drive to left and junior outfielder Alex Michaels took the lead back for the ‘Cats.

The Wildcats put the nail in the coffin in the seventh inning. First year outfielder Sean Smith singled to left giving Chico State a comfortable two run lead.

The ‘Cats finish the weekend series going 3-1. They improve to 8-7 in the CCAA and 9-9 overall.

Cal State San Bernadino drops to 3-13 in conference play and 5-20 overall.

Chico State looks to make a playoff push in the second half of the season. They currently sit in the middle of the standings at 6th place.
