Runners competing in the Downtown Mile will receive prizes after race.

The 2016 Downtown Mile, hosted by Fleet Feet Sports on Sunday Feb. 28, will start at the Fleet Feet storefront on 241 Main St. at 11:35 a.m. The race is only one mile and runs through the heart of downtown Chico.

“We just want to bring people downtown and encourage people to stick around and watch the bike race it’s affiliated with,” said Kristina Smith, manager of Fleet Feet Sports.

Participants running the mile will receive a $10 voucher to Fleet Feet Sports, plus extra prizes from the race’s sponsor Mizuno. People who do not wish to participate in the Downtown Mile are welcome to watch the runners and catch the Criterium bike race later.
