Gayle E. Hutchinson was announced as the new President of Chico State at a California State University Board of Trustees meeting in Long Beach, California.

Doctor Hutchinson is coming to Chico State from Cal State Channel Islands. She is a former dean of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Chico State and served as the Chair of the Department of Kinesiology from 2002-2007.

“She’s everything we need in a new president, and I’m super excited that she’s returning to campus,” said Mary Wallmark, coordinator of Student Life and Leadership. “She’s homegrown, she’s one of us. But she’s smart, she’s fair, she has an impeccable reputation on campus, she’s a great academician, and she’s also a great manager.”
