In the second game of the first doubleheader on Friday, April 8, the Wildcats kept their winning streak going against the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros, 10-2.

With two runs in the bottom of the first inning, junior Cyrena Taylor singled home seniors Desiree Gonzalez and Brynn Lesovsky. In the second, first-year Ari Marsh delivered a two-out RBI double to put Chico State up 3-0. The game went to 3-2 in the top of the fifth, but the ‘Cats didn’t sit back.

In the bottom of the sixth they flew into the lead with seven runs. Marsh came with another RBI double and Taylor followed with a three-run double. Taylor was Chico State’s top run producer, driving in five, all in the second game.

Gilham singled home a run and was driven home on a first-year Rachel DeHart triple to right-center. The ‘Cats weren’t done there: They gave one final blow with junior Sarah Galaviz’s base hit to plate DeHart.

This gave them a 10-2 victory and swept the first of the two-day doubleheaders.

Chico State extended its season-best winning streak to 10-straight to improve to 28-10 overall and 19-9 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
