‘Cats sweep Cal State East Bay

The Chico State women’s volleyball team started off the weekend right as they defeated Cal State East Bay Friday in three games (25-18, 25-17, 27-25).

In the first game, the Wildcats came out strong and took the game 25-18.
The ‘Cats continued their dominance in the second game winning 25-17.
In a thrilling third game it went to extra play as the Wildcats remained solid and beat the Pioneers 27-25.

Leading the cat attack was senior outside hitter Alex Shurtz, who recorded 17 kills. Junior outside hitter Ellie Larronde added on another 9 kills and freshman setter Torey Thompson had a game high 44 assists.

“We played very well tonight, they left enough space in their defense so our hitters could attack them,” Shurtz said.

The Wildcats are 10-9 on the season and 7-5 in conference play. The ‘Cats next game is Saturday at Acker Gym against Cal State Monterey Bay.
