‘Cats sweep Humboldt State

The Chico State women’s volleyball team swept Humboldt State Friday in three games (25-22, 25-18, 25-14).

In the first game, the ‘Cats recorded the first six points and to closed out the Lumberjacks 25-22. The Wildcats continued their success through the second game, winning 25-18.

In the third game, the ‘Cats were up as much as 21-9, and brought out the brooms for the sweep 25-14.

Leading the ‘Cat attack was junior outside hitter Ellie Larronde who recorded 15 kills. Senior outside hitter Alex Shurtz added 13 more kills and freshman setter Torey Thompson had a game high 44 assists.

“We played pretty well and when we needed to fix something we did and powered through it,” said junior middle hitter Lindsay Quigley.

The Wildcats are now 15-13 on the season and 12-9 in conference play. The ‘Cats next game is Saturday as they wrap up conference play at Acker Gym against Cal Poly Pomona at 7 p.m
