‘Cats claw way to victory

The Chico

remained unbeaten Saturday after defeating the University of Tampa Spartans, 77-67.

It was the closest game of the season for the ’Cats with the 10-point victory. The previous three opponents for Chico State were all defeated by at least 24 points.

An 11-2 run early in the second half pulled the lead to single digits as the ’Cats led 47-40. Then a 16-7 run by the Spartans later in the half brought the game within four as Chico State led 66-64.

Chico State’s Jazmine Miller answered right back with a 3-pointer to get the ’Cats back to a seven point lead. And after a few free-throws, Chico State would end the game with a victory.
