Chico State’s Student Affairs, held a public forum to create a wish-list of characteristics and experience the staff and faculty would want in a new vice president.

Representatives from every department falling under student affairs, from Housing to the Office of the Registrar, were present in the forum.

The Current Vice President of Student Affairs, Drew Callendrella, announced his retirement in January, with his final day being June 30.

A national search to fill the position will begin soon.

“The firm academic search has been selected to assist with the recruitment, and consultant Jessica Kozloff,” stated a Chico State campus announcement.

Kozloff, at the forum, asked the staff and faculty who attended what they wanted to see in a candidate.

They created a long list of desired characteristics, summarized here:

· Inclusions and diversity

· Co-curricular partnership

· Innovative

· Understanding of the community

· Respect the institutional knowledge of others

· Understanding the student body and its needs

· Transparency

There were also many calls, for the new vice president to conduct a listening tour after taking office.
