“Fibbonacci Sunset” manages to combine all the elements around him into lucid beats that give off a very earthy natural feel, yet his music has characteristics that will make your hair rise. The Orion had a chance to sit down with Mr. Sunset himself to discuss his eclectic musical style.

What’s your name?
Ricco Caesar Baffa

What’s your artist name?
Fibonacci Sunset

Where are you from?
Cleveland, Ohio

Why Chico?
I was traveling the country planning to move out to North Hollywood with my friend. But she never contacted me back and I decided that I was going to go wherever the wind would take me. I was taking a train from Chicago and ended up meeting some life long friends who brought me to Chico on a whim. This was a moment to flourish, evolve and live with a new sense of spontaneity. Chico offers a special kind of magic. I continue to meet so many compassionate and kind beings in this city who inspire me through their selfless actions and resolve to never give up on making your dreams into reality. It articulates on a whole new way of living and being for me.

What got you into making music?
One night when I was 18 my friend Aaron started to freestyle over some old school hip-hop beats. Something clicked instantaneously. Ever since then I’ve been hooked to the creative process and how I am consistently discovering new parts of myself within the music.

What genre would you put yourself in as an artist?
Right now I would say my tunes have a trip-hop feel to them. I don’t like to limit myself into making one genre. I cultivate my uniqueness through what I’m feeling and experiencing. Whether it’s an emotion that turns into a color or word that unravels into a song. Novelty is my goal. I am here to redefine musical recipes and put some fresh new ingredients into the produce section.

What inspires you to create?
Life.

Do you ever feel uninspired?
Only when I’m procrastinating.

Describe your music in 3 words
Tribal, ethereal and uplifting.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years (musically)?
I see myself with a few projects done and my artistic vision being a form of self sustainability. I plan on building tribe and starting a community where we can share our truths and wisdoms cohesively. For me it’s not about the fame but about the impact. To motivate others to be their most creative and authentic self. Express yourself. Love is the best Medicine.
