Chico State released an announcement to the student body urging safety for the holiday weekend.

Chico PD indicated in the announcement that there would be no additional staffing or special event teams for the weekend.

The announcement outlined three guideline students should use this weekend.

· If you are going to consume alcohol, have a plan in place to prevent driving while intoxicated.

· If you consume alcohol, do so in moderation and be responsible while doing so.

· For additional personal safety, always travel in groups. At night stay within well-lighted and highly traveled areas.

“As with all holiday events we want community members to enjoy themselves but remain safe,” said Chico Police Lieutenant Billy Aldridge, according to the email.
