A suspected thief led numerous police on a chase after possible fraud of credit cards at a Chico business Tuesday.

The incident occurred at around 2 p.m. at the 600 block of Broadway Street when Andrew Gasway, 32, was suspected of using fraudulent credit and debit cards, according to a press release. He fled the scene upon contact with Chico police who later identified Gasway as a wanted parolee from Sacramento.

Numerous Chico police officers surrounded the area in search of the suspect closing down the area between West 7th to West 8th Streets and Broadway to Salem Streets. Access to the neighborhood was limited due to street closures.

The yard to yard search lasted for approximately 2 hours.

Police charged the suspect with fraud, burglary and parole warrant. Gasway was held at Butte County Jail, according to police.
