The Chico State Wildcats dropped the series finale Saturday afternoon to Fresno Pacific by a score of 6-3.

On a sunny day at Nettleton stadium Chico State scored first with an RBI single by designated hitter Trevor Steinman knocking in first baseman Kyle Blakeman for an early 1-0 lead in the second inning.

Fresno Pacific would answer back in the third with a run of their own, making it a tie game.

Chico State took the lead back in the fourth with a sacrifice bunt by Steinman knocking in shortstop Casey Henderson to make the score 2-1.

Chico State led until the sixth when the Sunbirds put up four runs before adding another run in the ninth.

Chico State would respond with a run in the bottom half of the ninth inning on an RBI single by center fielder Dustin Miller. Despite loading the bases with two outs, the rally was not enough.

Chico State’s starting pitcher Hilario Tovar pitched five innings, striking out eight, and allowing three hits and one run in a no decision.

Dustin Miller was the leading hitter for the Wildcats Saturday going 3 for 4 with an RBI and a walk.

Trevor Steinman had two RBIs, while third baseman Cameron Santos would go one for four to give him five hits on the weekend.

The Wildcats host a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Friday against Northwest Nazarene.
