Wildcat men win on memorable Senior Night at Acker Gym

The Wildcats were victorious 71-63 against the Cal State San Marcos Cougars at home Saturday night for Senior Night. Corey Silverstrom, Jalen McFerren, and Isaiah Ellis all played their final home game at Chico State and were honored with a ceremony before the night’s gamee.

The night brought a lot of excitement, especially for the seniors. “I love it out here in Chico,” said Silverstrom.

Some of the future of the Wildcats freshman Malik Duffy and sophomore Justin Briggs helped the seniors dominated the first half.

McFerren went on an exciting 3-pointer scoring streak against the Cougars, ending the half with 12 points. Fellow senior Corey Silverstrom racked up eight points on the board while Isaiah Ellis added seven, ending the half at 39-29 Chico.

“Everyone contributed in their own way. Even the people on the bench, the red shirts,” said Duffy.

Malik Duffy made an incredible half court shot and finished the half scoring 6 points.

The ’Cats held the lead throughout the game, ending with a final score of 71-63.

“We played defense most of the game, but we executed our offense very well,” said Silverstrom.

Assistant Coach Mark Darnall expressed his happiness about the seniors bringing home the win for Senior Night. “Our main focus was to make sure that the seniors had a really memorable night,” said Darnall. “I’m extremely proud of these men, both on and off the court.”
