Phone lines to the University Police Department were down for nearly an hour Monday.
The line issue was announced in a campus email release Monday to all students and faculty.
In response, emergency 9-1-1 calls were routed to Chico Police. A temporary number was sent via email by University Police for students to contact while technicians cleared up the issue.
When asked if this has ever happened before, Sergeant Bryce Davison who has been with University Police since 2006 said, “Not that I’m aware of.”
Davison wasn’t sure of the cause of the power outage, but did say that occasionally tech-related systems go down, and they work to quickly bring them back up.
Lines are now back up as normal.
