Suspect in domestic violence stabbing currently at large
Police are searching for a man who stabbed his wife and fled his Chico residence Wednesday.
A stabbing was reported in a residence on Ebano Way around 4:58 p.m. to the Chico Police Department, according to a release. A 31-year-old female resident was found at the scene when officers reached her, with multiple stab wounds.
An investigation found that the victim had been in a physical altercation with her husband, and was stabbed multiple times. Her husband, Luis Contreras-Rodriguez, had left the scene before police arrived.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and has been reported in stable condition.
According to the release, police have issued an arrest warrant for Contreras-Rodriguez, charged with attempted murder. The current description for the suspect is a Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 185 lbs. A 2003 gray Dodge 1500 truck with an extended cab and a California license plate #52090B1 is also listed as his vehicle. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the Chico Police Department at 897-4900.
