Services will be held for student Kyle LaForce this weekend, after his sudden death due to seizure.
Kyle Joshua Harte La Force was a sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering. La Force lived with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy and died on March 27 at the age of 20.
According to an email sent to all students, Kyle was a graduate of Chico High School and had a passion for rebuilding cars, riding motorcycles, and snow and water skiing.
LaForce was also an active member of Lambda Chi Alpha since spring 2017. Members of his fraternity have started a GoFundMe for LaForce’s family.
Members of the student’s family requested donations for the Kyle LaForce Memorial Scholarship.
“He was voracious in his appetite for life and undaunted by life’s challenges, never afraid to fail, to get up, and try again,” said his mother, Roni Harte-La Force.
Two memorials will be held for LaForce on Friday, April 13, and Saturday, April 14. The first will be a viewing at Brusie Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday. A memorial service will then be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Evangelical Free Church, followed by a graveside service.
The University flag will be lowered on Wednesday in his honor.
