Officers engaged in a pursuit at 1:42 a.m. on Monday when a vehicle sped down East 9th Street at the Highway 99 overpass and didn’t yield to officers.
One suspect exited the moving vehicle on Humboldt Avenue at Bartlett Street and ran from police. While fleeing, the suspect dropped a loaded 9mm pistol before being caught a short distance away with cocaine, ecstasy and mushrooms.
The suspect was identified as 28-year-old David Pacheco and was arrested and charged with reckless evading, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of ammunition by a felon, possession of specific drugs for the purpose of sales, being armed while possessing drugs for sale and resisting arrest according to a Chico Police Department press release.
The other suspect kept driving and was stopped by additional responding officers. He has been identified as 27-year-old Charles Augmon and was arrested for possession of a firearm by a felon after a firearm was found in his vehicle.
Both suspects were transported to Butte County Jail.
