Wildcats win last two games of tournament

After a tough three losses on Saturday, the ‘Cats, earned two wins on Sunday against non conference opponents, Holy Names and Dominican, to round out the Best of the West tournament in Turlock.

They beat Holy Names 3-0 in the first game, getting on the scoreboard in the 4th inning on a RBI single by Courtney Brown, which scored Emily McEnaney. The Wildcats tacked on two insurance runs in the top of the seventh to conclude the victory.

Alex Molina, the Wildcats sensational pitcher, started her second game of the season and did not disappoint. She pitched a complete game four-hitter against Holy Names to pick up Chico State’s first win of the season.

In the second game of action against Dominican, the Wildcats had an easy time racking up five first inning runs, en route to a 9-1 win.

Ariel De Trinidad, had a great day pitching, giving up one run in five innings of work, leading Chico State to victory, for her first win of the season.

Chico State found the offense that they needed all of Saturday in the 9-1 win over Dominican, receiving two RBI’s each from Brown and McEnaney. As a team, they had 10 hits for the game, more than they had in all three games on Saturday.

In the end, the ‘Cats finished out the Best of the West tournament with two wins and three loses. The Wildcats next games take place February 14, with a two game set at UC San Diego.
