On Sept. 21 around 2:00 a.m., the Chico Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing near the intersection of West 3rd Street and Cedar Street.
Police officers arrived and located a potential victim who was an adult male “suffering from several significant stab wounds,” according to a news release from CPD.
The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. The suspects identified in the incident were described as two adult males that took off from the scene before officers arrived.
The Gang Unit Detectives continued the investigation of the stabbing and came to a conclusion of who the suspect was.
After obtaining an arrest warrant on Dec. 5, detectives arrested 32-year-old Stephen Campbell for the previous reported stabbing. Campbell, who was a CDCR parolee, was arrested without incident and booked at the CPD Jail. Campbell was arrested for the following charges:

After his booking, Campbell was sent to the Butte County Jail with a bail amount of $615,000. A CDCR Parole hold was pending approval at the time of his release, explained the news release.
