The Chico Police Department responded to an attempted kidnapping of a 21-year-old female Chico State student on the 1200 block of West Sacramento Avenue at 10 p.m. Friday night.

The suspect made a comment to the victim and she responded kindly, according to a campus-wide email. The suspect then pulled a plastic bag over her face and proceeded to drag her down the sidewalk before pushing her against a vehicle and trying to get her inside.

The victim, whose name is being withheld, was able to free herself by kicking the suspect and running to a nearby friend’s house before calling the police.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic or White male in dark clothing between 30 and 35 years old.

If anyone was in the area and witnessed something suspicious, contact the Chico Police Department (530) 897-4900.
