K9 Odin discovers narcotics at traffic stop

On Feb. 7, at approximately 9:56 p.m., a Chico Police Department Officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Mangrove Ave and Manzanita Court, according to a CPD news release. 

The driver, who was identified as 48 year-old James Marshal, made contact with the officer who requested a K9 unit to help with the traffic stop. K9 Officer Parsons arrived to the scene with his partner, K9 Odin, who discovered the presence of narcotic odor within the vehicle during a scent search.  

Marshal was asked to step out of the vehicle while officers searched the interior of the vehicle and located the following items:

  • 82.6 grams of Methamphetamine
  • 44 Vicodin pills
  • A digital scale
  • An undisclosed amount of cash

Marshal was arrested for the Possession of Narcotics, Possession of Narcotics for Sale, and the Transportation of Narcotics, said the news release. He was later transported to Butte County Jail.
