’Cats win final road game of regular season

The Chico State men’s basketball team won its final regular season road game against Cal State East Bay Saturday night by a final score of 70-56.

The ‘Cats were led by seniors Amir Carraway, Rashad Parker and Sean Park. All three contributed to the final 18 points of the game for Chico State.

The Pioneers kept the game close and were only down by two points at the half 33-31. The bench play helped Cal State East Bay stay in the game as they outscored the Wildcats bench 31-9.

With under five minutes to play, Chico State would be up 53-50 and that would be when the ‘Cats would pull away. Chico State would end the game on a 17-6 run and leave Hayward with the victory.

Amir Carraway led the ‘Cats with 20 points, Parker scored 16 and Giordano Estrada finished with 11 points. Jordan Semple filled the stat sheet with six points, 10 rebounds, two blocked shots, and two steals.

Chico State improved to 19-5 overall and 15-5 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

The ‘Cats will end the regular season with two home games next weekend. Friday night against rival Humboldt State and Saturday night against Cal Poly Pomona, which will also be senior night. Both games scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
