Clarification: This article previously stated that skateboarding was allowed on campus. Skateboarding is only allowed in the bike lanes on campus.
Bruno Silva-Sanchez, a 16-year-old Chico High School student, enjoys Chico State’s campus as a safe place to skate. According to Silva-Sanchez, some of the other local skate spots, like Chapmantown, can be dangerous.
Chico State only allows skateboarding on campus in the bike lanes for transportation purposes. Certain areas on campus even have skateboard parking.

Silva-Sanchez said that for the most part people on campus are “pretty nice,” but every now and then someone will say something less-than-friendly to him.
“It can be as low as someone saying ‘Do a kickflip,’ to a student or a Karen saying, ‘You can’t be here,'” Silva-Sanchez said.

According to Stephen Vaeth, a 15-year-old Chico High School student, there are multiple skate spots on campus. In particular, he enjoys a “four-stair” by the Langdon Engineering Center.

It’s nice to see the young men having a good time skateboarding and feeling safe. They could be out finding trouble but I credit there parents for showing them the right way. Kudos kiddos
