On day two of the three-day California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships in Turlock, the men’s and women’s track teams are both in the hunt to win titles.

In fact, the women’s team is already in the lead and looking toward its fourth conference title in a row. The men’s team is in fourth place and will have a little bit of a challenge trying to reach its 10th straight conference championship.

Throughout the day, there were many impressive performances from both squads, including another record-breaking outing by sophomore Hakeem Dyson in the men’s 110-meters hurdles. Junior Theodore Elsenbaumer and senior Andrew Kokinakees both advanced to the finals of the 400-meters hurdles, while J. Patrick Smith advanced to the finals of the 100-meters and 200-meters dash.

On the women’s side, Kasey Barnett and Brooke Shepard won a title in the pole vault and shot put respectively. Barnett also qualified for the finals of the 100-meters dash. Ayla Granados and Jordan Walsh advanced to the finals of the 1,500-meters run.

Saturday is the final day of the championships and is a huge opportunity for the Wildcats to increase their championship streaks.
