Women’s golf squad finishes third in Texas tourney

The Wildcat women’s golf momentum continues as they start
off the 2013-2014 spring.

The team ended the St. Mary’s
Lady Rattler Invitational in San Antonio, Texas in the final round with a
collective 20-over par 308 Tuesday, which allowed them to work their way up to
a third place finish in the 36-hole play carding 53-over par 629.

Both Dani O’Keefe and Sarah McComish led the ‘Cats by making the top 10 of a 93- person playing field. O’Keefe carded 1-over par 73 Tuesday, for an overall finish of 8-over 152 overall, allowing her to claim fifth place.

Sarah McComish made a huge comeback from Monday, when she ended the day tied for 30th place. She met O’Keefe by carding 1-over par 73 Tuesday, for a record total in a 36-hole play at San Antonio’s Dominion Gold Club of 10-over par 154 leading her to an overall eighth place finish.

Heather Fegley finished in 22nd place, carding a 10-over par 82 during Tuesday’s play. Wildcats Abbey McGrew and Spencer Downey both finished Tuesday by having improved from their Monday scores to help achieve their overall third place finish.

Chico State women’s golf will pick back up March 1-2 in the Cal State East Bay Pioneer Shootout.
