Marianne Akre is a third-year Journalism student at Chico State, in her first semester writing for the Orion. Transferring from San Diego, she enjoys reading, listening to music, and thrifting furniture for her apartment. While living in Chico, she is involved in the local music scene and hopes to explore other ways to get involved with the city. She hopes the writing she does allows readers to start discussions and encourage others to be involved within the community.
