On Feb 7. the Panhellenic sororities of Chico State spent the day sharing their charity plans with the young women going through Recruitment Week.

The day was dedicated to telling the women about what the sororities do to give back to the community.

The philanthropies cover organizations of all kinds that include; Diabetes research, Alzheimer’s research, Ronald McDonald House, Arthritis Organization, Women’s Cardiac Health, and Girls on the Run.

The women of the Panhellenic sororities talked about their philanthropies and the events that they put on.

Not only are the girls of the sororities giving back, but the whole Greek Council.

According to the Panhellenic Council information brochure the 2014 Interfraternity and Multi-Cultural Greek councils donated, “Over 640 pints of blood, $1,000 worth of cans to Jesus Center, $8,797 to the America Cancer Society, $1,500 to Up ‘Til Dawn and $1,400 to the Northern Valley Catholic Social Services.”

A lot of the chapters have also stayed local and give back to Chico elementary schools and volunteer their time to help repaint the playgrounds.
