20 resident advisers fired, three on probation

More than 20 residential advisers were fired March 2.
The residential advisers worked in Whitney, Shasta and Lassen Halls as well as University Village.
Due to University Housing regulations, advisers are required to follow certain conduct.
Residential advisers were notified of their termination March 2 and were asked to leave their current housing by March 5, but that was later extended to March 10.
These constraints leave some advisors with very little time to vacate the resident halls and find a current home in Chico.
“I know a lot of them that have temporary homes, but there are some that might have to drop out of school,” said CJ Knoble, an RA for University Village.
There are currently 20 RAs that are fired and three that are on probation for the breach of contract.

5. SHE DOESN’T CARE ABOUT THE EXTRA MONEY THE RESIDENTS PAY FOR FLOOR PROGRAMMING THAT ABEER HAS NOW CANCELED INDEFINITELY.
RESIDENTS, YOU ARE NOW GETTING NO RETURN FOR THE MONEY YOU PAID. BLAME ABEER AND HER POOR MANAGEMENT SKILLS. SHE IS UNQUALIFIED.

As a Mum of one of the 23 students who was fired I will tell you that I am greatly dissatisfied in the investigation and how these students were terminated. My child is a devoted Christian and took responsibilities of being an RA to heart. My child was in the wrong place at the wrong time doing the right thing…protecting a student who did not have the enough common sense for himself and put himself in danger by drinking too much. My child was only at this “RA” party for 10 min. long enough to help this student get to a friend to help take care of him as my child feared for his life. This student got drunk at a different location and then my child and another who was fired came across him and chose to help instead of leaving him to fend for himself.
Upon termination of my child, the facts did not matter. Only the fact that my child had been confirmed by two other people that my child was at the residence of the party. I find it funny that two students got probation who also were at this party.
The termination was due to underage drinking and in the presence of non-RA’s. RA’s are supposed to set a standard for all students on and off the campus. However, I do believe that termination for all 23 was too harsh.

I don’t think they’re at liberty to say. It’s a very controversial issue right now and housing is trying to keep it as quiet as possible to avoid backlash
