In a final tune-up for the start of the season, the Chico State men’s soccer team took on William Jessup Wednesday in a scrimmage game at University Stadium.
Junior midfielder Joachim Gasmi got the scoring started in the ninth minute, setting the tone for the rest of the game.
Senior Tyson Crim said the team needs to take advantage of its opportunities.
“We had a lot of chances in front of goal, we just need to be a little cleaner in the final third and put away opportunities,” Crim said.
A second-half goal by Octavio Guzman finished off the scoring for the ’Cat’s as they defeated William Jessup 2-0.
After Wednesday’s victory and a scoreless draw last Sunday against UC Davis, a Division I team, Chico State feels confident they are ready for the season opener against Saint Martin’s on Sept. 5, Guzman said.
“I feel we will be ready for the start of the season,” Guzman said.
