Chico State Wildcats took on Fresno Pacific in a double header, with both teams coming away with a win.
Game one:
The wildcats jumped out to a quick lead in the third inning when senior Danny Miller drove in two runs off of a single, giving the Wildcats a 2-0 lead.
The Wildcats held the lead until the seventh inning came around when the Sunbirds scored two runs on an error by the ‘Cats, bringing the score to 2-2.
The game was scoreless until the 14th inning rolled around and the Sunbirds broke the tie. Junior Nick Pate drew a walk for the Sunbirds and was later drove in with a single to left by sophomore McKay France.
Game 2:
In game two, the Wildcats scored first when senior Peter Miller drove in junior Peter Lecce off an infield single.
The wildcats advanced their lead in the fifth inning when junior Cody Bistline homered to left field bringing their lead to two.
The ‘Cats put even more pressure on the Sunbirds when Lecce singled and stole second with two outs. Junior James Hatano then doubled down the right field line scoring Lecce.
The Sunbirds would answer back in the fifth inning with five runs of their own, which brought the score to 5-3.
The Wildcats quickly answered back with two runs from senior Danny Miller and senior Dylan Garcia bringing the game to a tie.
Once again the game went into extra innings, but this time the Wildcats struck first when Miller drove in senior Connor Huesers, which brought the score to 3-2.
The ‘Cats held off the Sunbirds in the bottom of the tenth to take the win.
The Wildcats will be heading to Turlock for a three-game series against the California State University, Stanislaus on Feb. 20-22.
