On their second road game of the weekend, the Chico State women’s basketball team suffered a loss to the Humboldt State Lumberjacks, 85-65 on Saturday night .
After losing to San Bernardino State on Thursday night, the team faced an 11 hour drive on Friday to Arcata to play on Saturday.
The game was close, up until late in the first half when the first place Lumberjacks pulled away and led by 16 at halftime.
Humboldt State continued their pressure, building their lead to 25, five minutes into the second half.
The ‘Cats could not cut the lead under 10 anytime in the second half.
Senior guard Annie Ward led the ‘Cats on offense with 16 points, connecting on four three-pointers. Junior forward Brooke Bowen was just behind, adding 15 points of her own.
First year point guard Whitney Branham and Senior forward Michelle Walker each had nine points.
The silver lining of the weekend is that the toughest road trip of the season for the ‘Cats is over. The tough road trip was rather unkind to the Wildcats as both losses were decided by at least 19.
The loss drops the team to 8-14 overall, and 5-13 in conference. In a disappointing season for the Wildcats, they have four games left.
They are on the road against next weekend, facing Sonoma State, and San Francisco State.
