The homicide suspect in a fatal knife attack last week was arrested after a multi-property spanning police chase in Glenn County on Tuesday morning.
Last Thursday, Oroville resident Joel Eldridge was pronounced dead after an altercation on Mulberry Street with an unknown assailant. In the following week, Chico detectives developed information suspecting 30-year-old Michael Anderson as the perpetrator.
On Tuesday morning at 11 a.m., Chico police detected that Anderson was in Orland, potentially in a stolen vehicle. Officers spotted the vehicle between Highway 49 and Road 29, and after failing to pull over, a short chase commenced.
Anderson allegedly drove through a trailer park and nearby field before crashing into a ditch and continuing to evade on-foot officers. After exiting his vehicle and entering a camper, more police arrived on scene and Anderson came out of the residence.
“Anderson was transported to the Butte County Jail on an arrest warrant and charged with an open count of murder with no bail,” Chico Police Sgt. Matt Madden said.
Anderson is not being investigated in the involvement with another stabbing that occurred at One Mile Recreation Area on Tuesday at 5 a.m.
