Chico State men’s golf team started off the spring swing of their schedule with a tournament win at the Coyote Classic in San Bernardino.
The win marks the second straight, and third of the last four Coyote Classic titles the Wildcats have claimed.
The ‘Cats started Tuesday’s final round with a one-shot lead before posting the best team score, an 11-over par 291, to finish five shots clear of second place finisher Redlands.
In six events so far this season, the Wildcats have claimed three titles.
Junior Lee Gearhart, who was just cleared to play Feb. 16 after an offseason shoulder surgery, posted an even-par round of 70 Tuesday. He finished the tournament tied for fourth individually at 2-over.
Junior Alistair Docherty shot a final round 72 and finished tied for seventh at 4-over.
Junior Colten Kleis who made his collegiate debut this week, carded a final round 75 to finish the event at 11-over and tied for 22nd.
Justin Wiles and Zarchary Sardina both finished tied for 38th at 16-over.
Gearhart has now finished in the top 10 in four of six events, this finish also marked the 20th top-20 finish of his 31 collegiate tournaments.
Chico States next tournament will be at the Valley Hi Country Club in Elk Grove at the Sacramento State Intercollegiate Cup on March 9 and March 10.
