The Chico State men’s golf team’s streak of top-five finishes stretched to 17 Tuesday at the 42nd annual Hanny Stanislaus Invitational, hosted by Cal State Stanislaus at Turlock.
Led by junior All-American Alistair Docherty’s final round 73, Chico State turned in a final round score of 304, 16-over par. Docherty had the third-best score of the day and helped him jump into a tie for sixth at 6-over par.
Fellow junior All-American Lee Gearhart finished in second place out of 94 competitors at 3-over par.
Cal State Monterey Bay won the tournament with a final score of 880, 16-over par for the three round tournament. Anton Rosen took home the individual title at 3-under par.
Also competing for the Wildcats was senior Zachary Sardina, who carded a final round 77 to finish in a tie for 51st at 18-over.
First year player Colby Dean finished in a tie for 45th after a final round 79.
Rounding out the Wildcats roster was junior Justin Wiles who struggled in his final round shooting an 80 and droping into a tie for 25th at 13-over par.
Chico State, ranked fifth in the nation starting the week, begins the postseason at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championship on April 20 at Brookside Country Club in Stockton.
