The Chico State women’s volleyball team lost in three games Saturday to No. 13 ranked Sonoma State (18-25, 17-25, 21-25).
In the first game, the Wildcats came out flat and lost the game 18-25. Through the second, the ‘Cats had an early lead 7-6, but it vanished quickly as the Seawolves went on a 13-6 run to go up two sets. Battling back and forth through the third game, the Wildcats had victory in their sights, but fell short, losing 21-25.
Senior Alex Shurtz led the ‘Cat attack with 15 kills. Junior Emily Duran had 16 digs and freshman Torey Thompson contributed 31 assists.
“They were a good team and we just need to fix what we can and get two wins at home next weekend,” said senior defensive specialist Molly Ratto.
The Wildcats are now 7-7 on the season and 4-3 in conference play. Chico State will host Cal State L.A. Friday.
