The Chico State men’s soccer team won its third game in a row Sunday, with a 1-0 performance against San Francisco State.
The ’Cats got their only goal in the 73rd minute on a free kick by midfielder Octavio Guzman, from 20 yards out.
“It was a tough game because of the field but we managed to pull through it,” Guzman said.
Goalkeeper Sam Evans notched his 31st victory in his Wildcat career, setting him atop the all time wins leader in Chico State history.
It was the second consecutive shutout by Evans and the 18th during his career.
The ’Cats improved their record to 8-2 overall on the season and 6-2 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play. They are now in second place in the CCAA South division with 18 points, one point behind first place UC San Diego.
They face Cal Poly Pomona Friday and UC San Diego Sunday in a battle for first place.
