The Chico State women’s soccer team lost to San Francisco State 1-0 Sunday in San Francisco.
The Wildcats had four shots on goal but failed to score. The game remained tied until the Gators’ Lauren Hayano scored in the 83rd minute on an assist from Kelsey Wetzstein to take the lead. The Wildcats had opportunities but could not finish.
Chico State implemented a new offensive system to try and toss their opponent a change-up, said senior Carly Singer.
“We had some good moments out there, but we just couldn’t put them away,” Singer said.
Goalie Brianna Furner had four saves on the day for Chico State. Allison Land had four saves as well on the other side for the Gators.
Chico State drops to 4-5-1 and 2-5-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, while San Francisco State improves to 3-5-2 and 2-5-1 in the CCAA.
