The Chico State men’s soccer team got its weekend road trip started off on a positive note with at 2-0 victory against Cal Poly Pomona Friday night.
Senior midfielder Tyson Crim got the scoring started for the ‘Cats in the 69th minute with an assist from Octavio Guzman.
The Wildcats added an insurance goal in the 84th minute from forward Kramer Runager to solidify the victory.
Thanks to great defensive play by the ‘Cats defense, senior goalkeeper Sam Evans did not face a shot on goal for the evening and was able to secure his 3rd consecutive shutout in goal.
Chico State now improves to 9-2 on the season and 7-2 in California Collegiate Athletic Association league play.
The Wildcats will have its toughest test of the season coming up Sunday when they head down to face No. 6 ranked UC San Diego. They will be looking to get revenge for its 1-0 defeat they faced in their first meeting of the season back in late September.
