A shooting occurred at North Cedar Street on Saturday night and left one man injured, according to a Chico Police Department press release.
“I knew right away it was gunfire,” said Chris Badger, senior civil engineering major and North Cedar resident. “I didn’t see the shooter, but I heard about 20 shots fired.”
Badger reported leaving his room when he initially heard the shots. After, he witnessed several people screaming and running away from the neighboring apartments.
“I saw a girl who had been shot on the ground and was bleeding,” Badger said.
Reports later confirmed that the victim was a male. Authorities arrived within five minutes of Badger’s call and immediately transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment.
The victim’s condition was stabilized.
A fight between party attendees is believed to be the initial cause of the incident.
The shooting is an ongoing investigation and some details are still unknown.
“I’m probably going to get a gun after this,” Badger said. “It’s starting to seem more and more necessary.”
