The Chico State men’s soccer team gave up a late goal Friday,
forcing a 1-1 tie against Sonoma State.
After a scoreless first half, junior midfielder Octavio Guzman got the Wildcats on the board in the 51st minute on a corner kick from Justin Saul.
The Wildcats seemed to be coasting to their sixth victory in a row, but an 87th minute goal from Sonoma State’s Aaron Glover tied things up at one a piece.
It was the first goal allowed by the Wildcats in more than five games.
Neither team was able to put a goal in the net in the 20 minutes of overtime, ending the game in a 1-1 tie.
The ’Cats now stand at 10-2-1 on the season and still remain atop the California Collegiate Athletic Association South division.
The Wildcats will take the field Sunday at 11 a.m. against Humboldt State at University Soccer Stadium.
