Lindsey Dias and Courtlynn Cerrito scored goals Sunday as the Chico State women’s soccer team beat Humboldt State 2-0 in Chico.
The Wildcats got on the board when Dias scored 19 minutes into the first period on a combined assist from Megan Tabler and Danielle Leiva.
Cerrito bolstered the lead in the second period with a goal in the 74th minute.
Chico State played solid defense to hold onto their lead, as Wildcat goalie Brianna Furner came away with the shutout . Goalkeeper Kelly Lukas recorded four saves for Humboldt in the game.
“It was huge to get ahead early,” said freshman midfielder Lindsey Dias. “We have been struggling to score early. It really got the ball rolling today.”
Chico State improved to 5-7-2 overall and 3-7-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, while Humboldt State fell to 3-8-3 and 1-8-3 in the CCAA.
